Quest's 2009 Marathon Girls

Whether you go on a Quest project or expedition, you're likely to be a lot fitter by the end of the trip than at the start. These lovely ex-Quest ladies are this year taking their fitness levels even further and are all running the gruelling London Marathon this April.

It's not just about the physical and psychological achievement though, each of them are running for charities very close to their hearts. Heather Rayment (Yachana 2001, top left) is running for InterAct Reading Service, a charity for which she also volunteers. Amy Hammond (Ambue Ari 2003, bottom left) is running for Action for Children and Jenny Bloomfield (Yachana 2001, right) is flying all the way back from Hong Kong for the weekend, so she can run for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Running 26 miles at any pace is a fantastic achievement, and raising some serious cash for extremely worthwhile causes makes it all the more impressive. Well done girls and the first pint will be on us!

Pink tights and smelly chicken heads.

Day 3 of chicken week and we're off to Shropshire. The mask is ponging a little and the strange looks keep on coming. Tonight we hit the road on our way to beautiful Shropshire. We're camping in the wilds of Shrewsbury at the Wingfield Arms pub. Tomorrow we will be at Shrewsbury school gap fair to offer advice on Quest Overseas and Gap Years.

Watch this space for more videos, bring on chicken karaoke!!

Pink elephant really does exist!

A pink elephant calf has been caught on camera in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. They are extremely rare in the African elephant population and this one was spotted by eagle eye wildlife photographer Mike Holding.

The pink colouration is caused by the elephant missing a gene making it albino. Unfortunately this means it is more likely to suffer from the strong African sun without the normal protection provided by the skin pigment that it is missing. The hope is that the young elephant will learn to seek shade and make the most of using natures natural mud pack sun tan lotion!
